Why synthetic grass outperforms traditional turf for rooftops.

Rooftop Greenery

Green roofs are making a difference in cities all around the world. Green rooftops provide shade, absorb heat from the atmosphere, and reduce the roof surface and surrounding air temperatures. These kinds of rooftops are a wonderful way to increase square footage and support mental health by adding a green outdoor retreat in the concrete jungle. By going synthetic, you can increase the opportunities for making a creative space in an otherwise drab location.

Benefits of Artificial Grass Rooftops

Installing synthetic turf on a rooftop has several advantages. Here are a few of our favorite reasons:

Easy to Clean

Synthetic grass is very easy to keep clean and fresh-looking.

Low Weight

In comparison to traditional grass, there is no risk of safety issues or hazards, such as root and water damage.

Provides Insulation

Protects interiors of buildings from sweltering heat and may offer immunity to decomposition, mold, or mildew.

Reduced Maintenance

Synthetic grass if installed properly, will last for a very long time and require minimal maintenance.

Adds Value

Provides an easy getaway while staying in the concrete jungle.

Safe Space for Kids and Pets

With synthetic grass, your children and pets won’t be exposed to toxic weedkillers, fertilizers, and pesticides.

Create A Unique Look

Synthetic turf makes it simple to put turf where organic grass won’t grow, and you can create interesting figures, or even put them on walls if you wish.

Which Fiber Type Should You Use?

There’s a lot to consider when choosing artificial turf, much less what would be a good fit for a rooftop. Here are some important factors to consider when evaluating options:

Nylon is a durable fabric, but outdoor areas are susceptible to expansion/contraction and are likely to fade.

For indoor areas, we recommend nylon or scenarios with extreme commercial traffic or non-fill locations. All non-infill nylon Shaw products follow thorough flammability testing to conform to building codes.

We recommend an infill PE tape product for a commercial rooftop area.

PE tape is durable without compromising performance; high grade PE resins are resistant to fading and not vulnerable to contraction and expansion. Our Play-Safe collection provides premium performance for this application.
